A class action lawsuit against Elon Musk's SpaceXAI and Stability AI has expanded with two new plaintiffs, a Wyoming resident and a Wisconsin resident, joining three Tennessee teenagers, according to Georgia Public Broadcasting. The suit alleges that the companies' AI image-generation models were used to create child sexual abuse material (CSAM) by altering photos taken when the plaintiffs were underage.
"The companies' AI tools were used to make sexually explicit images of them as children."
The amended complaint, as reported by substack.com, accuses the companies of producing CSAM, benefiting from sex trafficking, negligence, defective product design, and creating a public nuisance. It also alleges that SpaceXAI failed to adequately share information about an alleged perpetrator with authorities, adding a new dimension to the claims of corporate responsibility.
"The amended complaint also alleges SpaceXAI failed to adequately share information about an alleged perpetrator with authorities."
The expansion of the lawsuit underscores the growing legal scrutiny around AI-generated content, particularly when it involves harm to minors. Both outlets highlight that the case now involves plaintiffs from multiple states, suggesting the scope of potential misuse of these technologies may be widespread.
