Chicago rapper Chief Keef will launch his “Chief Keef Live” tour from Chicago in September with a homecoming show at Northerly Island.
The South Side native, born Keith Cozart, was catapulted into national stardom with his 2012 release “I Don’t Like,” which is largely credited for introducing drill rap to mainstream audiences. His latest album, 2024’s “Almighty So 2” was met with critical acclaim. The highly anticipated follow up to his 2013 cult-classic mixtape, “All Mighty So,” peaked at No. 10 on Billboard’s to R&B and rap albums, with Pitchfork saying it “gives his gothic raps a new grandeur.”
Chicago fans have eagerly supported Chief Keef returning to hometown performances. He had a nearly 12-year hiatus from local shows when he was unofficially blacklisted by venues in the city and surrounding suburbs. That period ended when took the stage during
