Disney has given the green light to "The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen," a fourth installment in the franchise set to premiere on both Disney Channel and Disney+, according to Variety. The new film will bring back original stars Raven-Symoné as Galleria Garibaldi and Adrienne Bailon as Chanel, while introducing a fresh quartet of young performers. Production is scheduled to start this month, the company confirmed through its official blog.

Adrienne Bailon-Houghton and Raven-Symoné will reprise their lead roles, with Sabrina Bryan making a special appearance as Dorinda, Variety reported. Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter are also returning to their previous characters. The Hollywood Reporter noted the same casting lineup. On the new side, Sophia Bush joins as Jennifré and Leah Sava' Jeffries will appear as well, according to Variety.

The film, officially titled "The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen," will shift the franchise to a new generation of Cheetah Girls, moving the story to a fresh musical foursome, TVLine reported. The outlet also highlighted that original cast member Kiely Williams will not be attached to the project, an absence that stands out among the returning stars.

Disney announced that the fourth Cheetah Girls movie is officially in development and will begin production this month, according to a company post on its news site. The project marks the first time the franchise will release through Disney+, expanding its reach beyond the linear channel. Whatfinger also covered the announcement, confirming the returning cast members.

With a mix of legacy talent and new faces, "The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen" aims to bridge the original fanbase with a younger audience. The casting of Sophia Bush and Leah Sava' Jeffries signals a deliberate effort to build a new core for the next chapter, while Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon provide continuity from the early 2000s films that made the group a pop-culture staple.
