Candidate Filing Opens for Coachella General Municipal Election

The City of Coachella is accepting candidate filings for this year's General Municipal Election, giving residents the opportunity to run for local office.Voters will elect one mayor to serve a two-year term and two city council members to serve four-year terms during the election, which is scheduled for Nov. 3.Prospective candidates may obtain nomination papers by appointment at Coachella City Hall beginning July 13. The filing period will remain open through Aug. 7.City officials encourage anyone interested in seeking office to schedule an appointment during the nomination period and review all filing requirements before submitting their paperwork.Polling places throughout the city will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., allowing registered voters to cast their ballots for the city's next mayor and council members.Additional information about candidate filing requirements, election deadlines and voter resources is available through the City of Coachella.
