UWV: High energy prices could cut Dutch job growth by 75,000 through 2027

The UWV (Dutch employee insurance agency) predicts in its annual labor market forecast that persistently high energy prices will significantly reduce job growth in the Netherlands. If energy prices remain high through 2027, only 125,000 new jobs will be created. However, if energy prices decrease, an additional 75,000 jobs could be added, totaling 200,000 new jobs. Regional disparities are expected, with Limburg province being hit hardest, while areas like the Achterhoek and Drenthe may see no growth or even job shrinkage. The Middle East conflict is also cited as a factor impacting the labor market.
