Assemblymember Greg Wallis Honors Outdoor Workers During Appreciation Week

Assemblymember Greg Wallis showed his appreciation for outdoor workers across the Coachella Valley as part of Outdoor Worker Appreciation Week.Wallis visited the Coachella Valley's outdoor workforce, including stops at the CD Link Promontory Point and the Fritz Burns Community Pool in La Quinta. The statewide observance was established through legislation Wallis introduced in 2023 to recognize employees who work outdoors and help maintain essential community services.During the visits, Wallis met with Desert Recreation District employees, thanked them for their dedication and provided workers with bottled water and frozen treats as a gesture of appreciation during the summer heat.Wallis said the recognition extends beyond recreation employees, highlighting the many people who work outdoors every day, including agricultural workers, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, construction crews and others who help keep communities running.Officials say Outdoor Worker Appreciation Week recognizes the essential employees who maintain local parks, pools, trails and other public spaces, ensuring they remain safe, accessible and welcoming for residents and visitors.The observance comes during one of the hottest times of the year, when outdoor workers across the state continue performing their jobs despite extreme temperatures.
