Apple Raises AppleCare+ Premiums for Mac and iPad Customers

Apple has quietly increased the cost of its AppleCare+ protection plans for Macs and iPads, with monthly subscriptions rising by 50 cents and annual plans going up by $5 in the United States. The changes apply to new subscriptions, so existing plan holders are not affected. Bloomberg first reported the price hike, which took effect on July 15.
AppleInsider noted that the increase is marginal but consistent with the company's pattern of adjusting warranty and repair service pricing over time. The new monthly rate is $0.50 higher, and the annual option costs $5 more than before.
"Just like any other subscription, warranty and repair services often go up in price over time."
While the bump is modest, it adds up for customers who keep AppleCare+ for several years. For example, a three-year plan would cost an extra $15 under the annual option compared to previous pricing.
MacRumors reported that the price increases were first spotted by Bloomberg and apply specifically to Mac and iPad plans. The change does not affect AppleCare+ for iPhone or Apple Watch at this time.
Customers considering new AppleCare+ coverage for a Mac or iPad will now pay slightly more for the peace of mind, though the increase may not deter those who value extended warranty and accidental damage coverage.
