Anthropic is reportedly in early-stage talks with Samsung Electronics to produce a custom artificial intelligence chip, according to multiple reports. The discussions are preliminary and have not yet settled on key specifications such as the processor's workloads or performance targets.
"The discussions have not yet finalized key details such as the processor's workloads or performance specifications."
The negotiations come as competition in custom AI silicon intensifies. Just last week, rival OpenAI announced its own custom AI chip developed in partnership with Broadcom, signaling a broader industry push toward proprietary hardware to power large language models.

Both Anthropic and Samsung have declined to comment on the reported discussions, which remain fluid. If finalized, the partnership would place Anthropic alongside a growing list of AI companies seeking to reduce reliance on off-the-shelf chips from Nvidia and other suppliers.
