NextEra Energy is buying Dominion Energy for $67 billion. The reason is AI. The merged company will serve more than 450 data centers, hold 130 gigawatts in construction backlog, and become the world's largest regulated utility — because training and running AI at scale requires more electricity than any previous technology in history.
