Affle has secured an Indian patent for an artificial intelligence-powered system designed to detect fraudulent app-install activity, a move the adtech company says strengthens its technology moat as advertisers face growing concerns over bot traffic and invalid digital engagements. The patent for a method and system for click-to-install behavior based detection of fraud, had previously been granted in the United States and has now been approved in India, according to a regulatory filing. The technology uses trained machine learning models to analyze click-to-install behavior in real time across what Affle describes as agentic or autonomous intelligent connected devices. By processing device signals, application data and user behavior—including metrics such as click time, redirection time, installation time and network signals—the system is designed to distinguish genuine consumer activity from bot traffic and fraudulent publisher behavior.According to the company, the system can identify suspicious activity, assign fraud scores and block offending publishers in real time, helping ensure advertisers pay only for authentic consumer conversions. The patent also reinforces Affle's fraud prevention capabilities within its AI-powered Consumer Platform Stack, which underpins the company's cost-per-converted-user (CPCU) business model. The latest approval expands Affle's intellectual property portfolio, which now comprises 18 granted patents out of 39 patent applications, representing approximately 300 enforceable patent claims across its technology stack. The company said the growing portfolio reflects its long-term investment in artificial intelligence, fraud prevention and privacy-first digital advertising solutions. For digital advertisers, the patent addresses one of the industry's most persistent challenges: invalid traffic. As marketers increasingly tie spending to measurable outcomes such as app installs and customer acquisitions, accurately separating human engagement from automated or fraudulent activity has become critical to protecting campaign performance and return on investment.Read more: Affle to acquire AdColony assets from Digital Turbine to boost adtechAlso read: Affle posts 20% revenue growth as AI-led advertising business expands across markets
