Australia's antisemitism envoy calls for independent oversight of ABC's charter compliance amid Middle East coverage complaints

Australia's Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, Jillian Segal, has criticized the ABC for acting as its own "judge, counsel and jury" regarding complaints about its coverage of the Middle East conflict. She has recommended the creation of an independent oversight committee to review the public broadcaster's compliance with its charter obligations. The ABC and SBS were called to give evidence at the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, where concerns about their reporting were raised.
