Antisemitism envoy Jillian Segal calls for independent oversight committee to review ABC and SBS Israel coverage

Jillian Segal, Australia's antisemitism envoy, has told a royal commission that the ABC and SBS need a new independent oversight committee to vet their Israel coverage, arguing there is a widespread perception in the Jewish community that the public broadcasters' reporting on the Gaza war lacks balance, overemphasizes Gaza relative to other conflicts, and gives disproportionate voice to anti-Israel perspectives. Currently, both broadcasters have an independent ombudsman to handle complaints, but Segal is pushing for an external committee outside the organizations.
