Warner Bros. has once again delayed 'The Batman: Part II,' this time moving Robert Pattinson's return as the Dark Knight to February 18, 2028, according to multiple reports. The sequel had previously been scheduled for October 2027 after an earlier delay from 2026, and the latest shift has reignited frustration among DC fans waiting for a follow-up to the 2022 hit.
"What a joke."
IGN captured the exasperation many feel as the film inches further into the future. The delay extends the gap between the original and its sequel to nearly six years, a stretch that CBR called "too long" in its coverage of the history of release date changes.
Director Matt Reeves did not let the news pass quietly. Bleeding Cool reported that Reeves shared a new teaser and updated logo alongside the announcement, suggesting that production is now underway. However, the outlet noted that this "marks another significant delay for the highly anticipated sequel." The film had already been pushed from October 2026 to October 2027 before this latest change.
"Ever since The Batman premiered in 2022, the film's conclusion had DC fans ready for what would come next."
ComicBook highlighted the frustration building since the spinoff series 'The Penguin' filled in some gaps but left the main story dangling. CBR added that the script is now complete, a key update that Epicstream said raises questions about what the delay means for Matt Reeves' Gotham universe. Far Out Magazine simply confirmed the 2028 target, while Y105FM relayed the news from Warner Bros. without additional commentary.
With Reeves' teaser offering the first official glimpse since production began, fans will have to wait until February 2028 to see how the Caped Crusader's story continues. For now, the Dark Knight remains in the shadows.
