Marjane Satrapi, the acclaimed Iranian-French artist, animator and director best known for her Oscar-nominated 2007 animated biographical film "Persepolis," has died at age 56. According to a statement from close friends and family, she died of sadness a little over a year after the death of her husband, producer Mattias Ripa, who passed away on April 8, 2025. French President Emmanuel Macron's office also announced her death.
