Franco-Iranian author and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, best known for her acclaimed graphic novel and film "Persepolis", has died at age 56. According to a statement from her close circle, she died of "sadness" a little over a year after the death of her husband Mattias Ripa, described as "the love of her life." Born in Iran in 1969, Satrapi moved to France in 1994 and became a French citizen in 2006. She was also known as an outspoken critic of Iran's government.
