Bestselling young adult romance author Mercedes Ron has signed a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios, formalizing a partnership that has already produced one of the streamer's most successful international franchises. Both Deadline and Variety reported the agreement. The "Culpables" trilogy, which Ron originally wrote on Wattpad, has been adapted into a series of Spanish-language films on Prime Video. According to Deadline, those films "garnered 100 million views worldwide as Amazon MGM Studios' most-watched international originals." The figure underscores the global appetite for Ron's romantic fiction. Amazon MGM has since expanded the franchise into English with "My Fault: London" and "Your Fault: London," with Variety noting that a third installment has recently wrapped production. The deal ensures Ron will continue developing projects for the studio. Variety described Ron as "a Wattpad breakout author whose romantic fiction has become a major driver of viewership" on the platform. With the new first-look agreement, Amazon MGM secures exclusive early access to her future work, building on the momentum of a trilogy that began as online serials and grew into a global phenomenon.
