Midland, Texas shooting: One city employee killed, 10 injured in standoff with suspect

A Texas community on June 13 is mourning the loss of a city employee a day after a shooter opened fire in the city of Midland and barricaded himself inside an building for hours.

One victim, identified as Midland city employee Ed Scott, was killed and 10 others were injured.

Community members came together the evening of June 12 for a prayer and gathering.

Officials said the shooter, 45-year-old Victor Mata Villarreal, was also dead inside the an abandoned veterinary clinic, ending the standoff the afternoon of June 12.
