Amazon Cancels New 'Stargate' TV Series from Martin Gero

Amazon MGM Studios has canceled the new "Stargate" television series from showrunner Martin Gero, which had received a series order from Prime Video in November 2025. According to Variety, Amazon executives were concerned that Gero's take would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise's existing fanbase, while Deadline reported the decision was due to the creative direction no longer aligning with Amazon's programming strategy under new studio leadership. The show had completed a 20-week writers room and was in pre-production in the UK before being axed, Bleeding Cool noted. Consulting producers Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi expressed disappointment on social media but praised Gero's vision for the project.
