SSEN Transmission has committed over £17 million to fund the construction of 50 new homes with Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) in Lewis. A total of 73 homes will be built in the first phase of HHP's Melbost West social housing development near Stornoway. Of these, 23 homes will be immediately available for the local community upon completion in 2029, while 50 homes will temporarily accommodate workers building SSEN Transmission's Lewis Hub and associated infrastructure projects. After construction, those 50 homes will become part of the permanent social housing stock in the area.
