Summary
An Essex-based criminal gang, fronted by 69-year-old career criminal Mark Youell, has been found guilty of smuggling Afghan migrants into the UK using a truck through the Channel Tunnel. The National Crime Agency investigation began in July 2019 when Youell and accomplice Carl Bailey (52) were observed meeting with Freddy Lawrence (59), a Kent-based career criminal already under separate NCA investigation for people smuggling.
